Shaneka Thurman-Griffin, MS
I’ve spent my career at the crossroads of culture, science, and wellbeing, living and working across nearly half of Africa’s 54 countries. My journey began with traditional healers in West and Southern Africa, where I witnessed firsthand how local wisdom shapes health, community, and resilience. That experience sparked my research into traditional African herbal medicine, revealing the extraordinary potential of connecting ancestral knowledge with modern science.
As a behavioral scientist and global health expert, I’ve spent two decades translating data into programs and interventions that help communities in Africa and its diasporas thrive. I’ve led studies on African nutrition, health behavior, and disease prevention for organizations including the United Nations and the U.S. government, always grounding my work in culturally informed, evidence-based practices.
Formally trained in African Studies, Intercultural Communication, Global Health, and Behavioral Science, I bring rigor, curiosity, and creativity to every project. Data-driven and full of heart, I am unapologetically an advocate for Africa—part scientist, part storyteller—bridging ancestral wisdom and modern science to reimagine wellness for a global audience.
